Bone Densitometry

The SSFS maintains a DEXA (Dual Energy X-Ray absorptiometry) machine used for noninvasive measurement of bone mineral density (BMD) and bone mineral content (BMC). The use of DEXA in the measurement of bone has been used widely in human research over the past ten years. Currently the CPRC is establishing a database of the BMD of the Cayo Santiago-derived rhesus colony.
